Transitional Foster Care
Lilyfield provides short term foster care placements for infants and children who are being placed for adoption by their birth
parents. This care is called Transitional Care. These placements are typically no longer than two weeks and last until the
birth parents relinquish their parental rights. Transitional care parents usually care for one or two children each year.
In some circumstances, Lilyfield will provide transitional care for birth parents who are not interested in placing their
child for adoption. These placements provide a temporary placement for their child while the birth parents get challenging
circumstances in their life under control. These placements typically last less than 30 days.
Transitional care parents must be certified through Lilyfield. One parent must stay at home, as day care is not available
for private placements.
