Gateway Independent Living Program
The Gateway Independent Living Program serves young women aging out of the Oklahoma foster care system, who are pursuing higher
education. The program has three areas of focus: housing, education support, and mentoring.
Residents are provided with free room and board, access to computers, internet, and laundry, and assistance with the college application
and financial aid application process. Residents also receive case management services, participate in life skills classes,
and are matched with a mentor family. Residents are provided with their own bedroom, and share a kitchen, bathroom, and living
Applicants must be females between 18 and 26 years old, and have aged out of the Oklahoma foster care system. All residents are
required to be working on a two or four year degree, or agree to begin one within six months of entering the program.
Our goal is to empower young women who have aged out of the foster care system to complete their higher education and begin a path
to self-sufficiency. If you are interested in learning more about the Gateway Independent Living Program, please contact our
Independent Living Coordinator, Natalie Bergstrasser, at (405) 216-5240 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
