Learning Centers

Learning Centers

It's back to school season and we have some exciting announcements about our EmpowerOKC and EmpowerTulsa programs as we transition from our summer program to Empower Kids Clubs. First of all, we are thankful to Porch Art Supply, The Assembly, Pepper's Ranch, Emily Padalino, and other individuals for donating school supplies to the children we serve so that they can learn from home.

During the school year, our Empower Kids Clubs typically meet twice a week in the schools that we are partnered with, but because of COVID-19 and virtual learning, our Kids Clubs will be meeting at different sites. We are happy to announce that St. Luke’s Asbury United Methodist Church located in South Oklahoma City is one of those sites! They are graciously providing space, food and other resources so our staff, AmeriCorps members, and volunteers can provide mentoring, social emotional learning groups, parent support groups, and all kinds of resources to our families in that area. In Tulsa, groups will be meeting at several apartment complexes where many of our families live.

Additionally, we are creating learning centers so that children struggling or needing support with education, can come to our sites and work on school work during school hours. We cannot do all of this without the help of donations and volunteers. Will you join us? We are committed to ensuring that the children and families of South Oklahoma City and North Tulsa have the same chance to thrive emotionally, mentally, physically, and educationally as anyone else. We appreciate your support as we continue our work!
